...in my head

You know, I've been surfing past the Sci Fi channel a lot lately, and I've come to one conclusion.

The powers that be at USA Networks smoke crack.

They cancelled Farscape, a very good show that was popular and receiving a lot of critical attention, citing their decision to move in a non-outerspace sort of direction in programming.

And instead have opted to run crap like Tremors: The Series -- the first movie was amusing in a silly, cult classic sort of way but this is so beyond unnecessary, John Edwards's show about channeling dead people for audience members -- which repulses me, Scare Tactics -- hosted by SHANNEN DOHERTY of all people, ancient re-runs of The Twilight Zone and X-Files, Roar, featuring a young Heath Ledger and Keri Russell -- which has like what, six episodes at the most, and EVERY SINGLE crappy B-, C-, or possibly D-movie featuring a vaguely sci-fi or mystical theme.

Sci Fi also seems to be the repository for crappy television pilots that time forgot. Jerry O'Connell's brother as a magician with super powers? Egads, why? Why? Why?

It's almost as if they created a channel just so that they could farm out their misbegotten made-for-television movies to a whole new viewing audience. Atomic Dogs! Rattlers! Dog Soldiers! Rattlers 2!

Hell, they're even remaking Battlestar Galactica. Is that reeeeeeeally necessary?

The only thing that keeps me interested in this channel is Stargate: SG1. Which I hear is ditching Parker Lewis, and returning Michael Shanks's character, Dr. Peter Jackson.

Gah.

Yesterday & Tomorrow.

What's in your head?
