...in my head

06.17.03

People always ask me how I like Chicago.

I like it fine. I like it the same as anywhere else I've lived.

The grocery stores have a broader array of foodstuffs, the eL is much more pleasant to listen to than a line of boxcar-towing engines rumbling back and forth along Dubuque street, and if some woman is screaming her head off outside, the likelihood of it being some drunken sorority girl shrieking when her big fraternity boyfriend throws her over his shoulder is much lower than it someone being the victim of a horrible crime. Not that I have heard anyone screaming her head off outside, mind you, this is just speculation.

The cat is a bit wilder and noisier than she used to be in Iowa, but her living environment is a great deal more aesthetically pleasing than her old one, and definitely have more counterspace upon which to naughtily caper about.

There are more cable channels, and the cable modem goes down with less frequency here than in Iowa City.

With the exception of the people here, things are pretty much the same except upgraded slightly.

I like seeing Erin and Wil at least once a week for dinner, and I enjoy spending time with Meredith. And just knowing that the rest of the people that I know here but haven't seen since several months before I moved is somewhat comforting.

And musicians keep inviting me to their shows, which is something new.

Plus, I've decided to actually go wander off by the lake sometime soon. Maybe once summer actually starts.

Yesterday & Tomorrow.
