I've been a little bit busier at work lately, which is refreshing.
The salon at Carsons, for some reason, seems to mostly do perms and colors, more so than anything else. And most of these are walk-ins. People don't wander in for a trim or a wax, they wander in for highlights or a radical color change, which I am more than happy to provide. These things cost a fair amount of money to the consumer, and are helping out my bottom line, but I can't help wish that I had more appointments in general.
Sure, somewhere down the line I would love to be swamped with chemical services, but right now, I feel like I'd rather do three haircuts and an eyebrow wax to bring in a certain amount, than a perm and a bang trim. The latter might entail less work, but the former provides more variety, and eats up more hours in my day.
Sitting around with nothing to do for five hours and then spending the last two or three hours of my shift transforming a lady with black hair into a lady with rich auburn hair and soft golden hightlights is a very long day. So much longer than a random haircut every hour to an hour-and-a-half.
