I was supposed to do work stuff today. But plans changed.
So, I called Tif and Willy Bean, and I ended up going with them to the Alley, to shop for components of a naughtly Little Red Riding Hood costume, for a Halloween party that they were going to go to in Seattle this upcoming weekend. Willy Bean is, obviously, going as the Big Bad Wolf.
After much searching, we found lots of good stuff, and decided that the naughty school girl look was the way to go, with a short red plaid skirt, black knee socks, a black t-shirt that says "RIP HER TO SHREDS" across the front, a red vinyl marabou-trimmed jacket, and red mary-janes.
The kicker is that the mary-janes are not only red, but have little black kitties on them, so they are suitable for everyday wear as well.
I was very jealous of the shoes, because they were too small for my gigantic size-7 gunboats.
However, after much searching, we discovered black mary-janes with pink kitties on them in my size. One of them had a little scuff on a pink bit, so they marked them down 50%, and we bought them.
I figured that I could mix acrylic paint the same color and touch up the scuff, rendering the imperfection indiscernable to the average fellow.
Which I did when I got home.
And then when they were dry, I put them both on, and was dismayed to find that the left shoe was actually a mislabled size-6 upper on a size-7 sole, making them unwearable due to defect.
I guess that I should have tried both shoes on in the store, but having tried the 6's and having them be a bit too small, and then trying on the 7 display shoe and having it fit, I stupidly assumed that the left shoe would be the proper size.
I wrote an email to the manufacturer, who suggested that I return them to the Alley, and see if I can get a different pair, or just a refund. Hopefully, the store will not try to stick me with store credit if they don't have some sort of replacement shoe or won't refund the money.
And if I have problems returning them, the guy from Tredair told me to email him about it.
Which I hopefully won't have to do.
I still like the red ones better, though.
