...in my head

10.28.02

For a couple of weeks, they mall was advertising a big J-Crew Warehouse Clearance Sale, to be held in the space formerly occupied by JC Penney's lower half.

I went to the sale. It consisted of a bunch of extremely overpriced merchandise stuffed into boxes and stacked on tables, loosely categories by gender and clothing type, and mostly comprised of returns, damages, irregulars, or stuff that was too damn ugly to sell in the first place.

I managed to find a cute, very well-made, winter-weight, long black skirt, in my size. After 1.5 hours of rooting through boxes and shaking my head in disgust.

Prices were set by descriptives of clothes, like long-sleeved shirts with buttons, $20, short-sleeved shirts with buttons, $15, long-sleeved shirts, $10, and short-sleeved shirts, $5. All dresses were $30, despite style or quality, all skirts were $20, pants also $20, and shorts for $10. Children's clothing was half the price of adults, and there was more crap, like swimming suit pieces $8 each, brassieres and underwear $5, etc.

Mostly, it was a bunch of crap, and I can't believe I wasted that much time looking for treasure among trash.

Yesterday & Tomorrow .
