I really don't care a damn teensy little bit about Early Christian and Byzantine art.
Reading about it makes my skin crawl and my brain turn all gooey.
Trying to commit the facts and details about what church was commissioned by whom, and where and why, makes me want to whack myself in the head with a planishing* hammer until I have achieved a nice, shiny, blemish-free surface.
This bodes ill for my paper on the Hagia Sophia**.
*A planishing hammer is used to whack metal in tiny concentric circles over and over again until a nice, shiny, blemish-free surface is revealed. I know that the same effect would not be achieved were I to use it on my noggin, as I am not primarily comprised of metal or metallic substances. Okay, maybe some iron, but it is strictly in a soluble form, and not ideal for planishing. Either way, the intent was strictly overly dramatic in nature.
**It of course being a shining example of Early Christian and Byzantine church commissioning and construction and whatnot.
