Having recently seen her play the mayor of New York in the movie Sweet Home Alabama, I am utterly convinced that should Martha Stewart get sent to the pokey, and all of the network channels scramble to film the lurid lifestyle and resulting scandal of aforementioned domestic diva, at least one of the channels should tap Candice Bergen for the part.
If one of them doesn't, then their stupider than I thought.
I mean, someone came up with Alyssa Milano to play Amy Fisher, which in my opinion is a much better choice than Drew Barrymore for the same role.
I have no problem seeing Alyssa play a misguided, stupid, and slutty teenage Jersey-girl.
Drew, on the other hand, feels more corn-fed Midwestern, or seedy West Coast.
At whatever age she played the "Long Island Lolita," I could easily have seen her playing a misguided, stupid, slutty teenage girl from Waterloo, Iowa, or a misguided, stupid, slutty teenage girl from the slums of Beverly Hills.
Or maybe it's just me.
However, I am completely dead-on right about the Candice Bergen/Martha Stewart thing. They're both aroung the same age, they even kind of look alike, they're both rich, and both were models when they were younger. I'll bet that Candice can even whip up a mean crème brûlée.
What more could you possibly want?
