I am in the middle of building a salon and have been on the search for the Kami Shitsu Kaizen Japanese hair relaxer to bring into my salon. I have been unsuccessful. Do you have any ideas where I can purchase this?
Michele, I did a little poking around, and here is what I was able to compile. If you need more help researching, let me know, but hopefully this will get you started in the right direction!
Kami Shitsu Kaizen, "texture-change" in Japanese, is a treatment that retexturizes hair, curing frizz and taming coarse waves or curls, with affects lasting up to six months. According to Tori Kitagawa, an avant-garde stylist at the new Gavert Atelier in Beverly Hills, "Kami Shitsu Kaizen minimizes kinks and roughness, making hair easier to style, and showing off flowing color."
From what I have gathered, Kami Shitsu Kaizen isn't a brand name, but rather a generic term for the process, but in the Japanese language.
The following two snippets of info appear to be referring to the same company, from the description of the parent company and the training involved.

When they started training in New York, two of us went up for about 10 hours of instruction. They won't let you carry the product without the training...
The product, tools and training are from Shinbi International, a Japanese firm in New York.
- Their address is: Shinbi International Corporation, 545 8th Ave, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
- Phone and fax: 1-800-821-4260 or 212-268-7640 (FAX: 212-268-7642)

"We haven't even started marketing the procedure yet -- we just started doing it -- and already I have five lined up this week," says Laprairie, whose staff had to attend a special training school and certification process in New York in order to use the system. The Japanese company that makes the thermal hair relaxer system brought it to the United States about a year ago, and JKL is the only salon in the area certified to perform the procedure.
Another company that seems to have a straightening system is mentioned below.

Good luck on your quest!
It sounds like a wonderful process to offer in a salon, and is totally one that I wish we had where I work.
Hell, I'd even love having it just to get my hair fixed like that.
If it's good enough for Felicity, it's certainly good enough for me!
