I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get into the holiday spirit.

By this time last year, not only had I purchased all of my holiday presents, but I had them all wrapped and under my tiny decorated tree.

This year? The tree is in a large, purple roughneck tote in the basement, and I've gotten a few gifts, none wrapped. I'm considering a charitable donation in lieu of having to buy stuff for my extended relatives, which I have in fact done before.

I don't think I'm going to decorate my house. I've got lights, and obviously a tree, but I just don't feel the need to put up the props a whopping 2 weeks before the big day this year.

At least we have snow now*.

The mall got closed** just as I was getting off work yesterday, so I went home and dug out my car, in the unlikely event that I had somewhere better to be than my house. I also made sure to carefully pile all of the snow on top and underneath the illegally parked car next to mine. I figure if she's going to stick her car in the lot despite all of the nasty notes and threats of towing that it should be as hard for her to remove her car as possible, which in turn gives me a greater chance of having it towed for fun later in the day.

How's that for a seasonably charitable spirit?

Yesterday & Tomorrow.

*I was going to make some snide comment about getting 10", and how everytime I seem to get ten inches I end up walking funny, but I decided against it. (YOU STRUGGLE THROUGH FOOT-DEEP SNOW DRIFTS WHEN YOU'RE AS SHORT AS I AM WITHOUT WALKING FUNNY IN THE PROCESS, DIRTY BIRD.)

**Technically, the greater Coralville/Iowa City metropolitan area was closed for business, but considering that the mall seems to be the place to be, the closing of said mall for business was exceptionally poignant for me. Especially since they decided to close it just as I was getting off work. Bastards. And had planned errands to run after said shift was over, at the other mall that was also closing at said time.
