(Today is Jeffrey's birthday!)

I was walking home at about 8:45pm the other night, when I saw a blonde girl pull her car into a metered parking space. She got out of the car, fiddled with her hair, and then walked over to the sidewalk and looked up at the building in front of her. She then looked at the meter, consulted her watch, looked up at the building again, and then rooted through her purse.

'No freaking way,' I told myself, shaking my head.

And then her hand surfaced with a fistful of change, which she diligently fed into the meter, as I stood there, watching in awe.

Even I know that meters are free after 4:30, on holidays, and Sundays.

This got me to thinking about the blonde girl. She looked to be at least 20, which made me wonder if, for the past 4 years she's been driving, has she always fed the meter, regardless of the time of day, or even the day in general?

You'd think that at some point she'd have had a passenger that would have set her straight, unless all of her friends are as incredibly stupid as she appears to be.

I almost yelled, 'Meters are free after 4:30, you dumb ass!" at her, but decided that if she's dumb enough to pay the city money that she doesn't have to, then she deserves what she gets.

Yesterday & Tomorrow.
