A touch of Vertigo:

"If I do what you tell me, if I let you change me, will that make you love me?"

I somehow managed to forget exactly how messed up that movie is. Scotty falls in love with Madeline, she dies, he find a girl named Judy, who looks frighteningly similar to the dead one, and unbeknownst to him, is the woman he fell for, all wrapped up in a murder conspiracy.

Because Judy loves him, she lets Scotty make her over in Madeline's image. Same clothing, same makeup, same mannerisms, same hair. She changed her hair for him. That's just sick. I'm all for compromise in a relationship, but when you become someone's personal Barbie doll, and you end up plunging off a bell tower a few times, you've got the classic makings of a dysfunctional relationship.

I, on the other hand, don't seem to get the request for change. I always end up with some guy who totally rocks at first, treats me like a princess, buys me lots of stuff, and then pulls some sort of Jekyll & Hyde switcheroo on me, either forgetting I exist or chucking beer bottles at me while proclaiming his undying affection. That's enough to make you plunge off a bell tower more than once. Criminy.
