On a near-daily basis I play a mental game, and exercise of sort, with myself. I like to call it 'How fucked up are you today?'
Basically, you get points for functioning:
- Get up and get ready for work? 2 point.
- Remember to take breakfast and lunch to work with you? 2 points.
- Get to work on time? 1 point.
- Remember to eat? 1 point.
- Resist temptation to fill the deep emotional void with cookies, chips and candy? 1 point.
- Work hard enough to make the boss happy but not hard enough to show that you don't care? 1 point.
- Actually care? 1 point.
- Run errands after work like you're supposed to do? 1 point each errand.
- Go to the gym? 2 points.
- Go to class? 1 point.
- Actively participate? 1 point.
- Resist temptation to drown sorrows in a big vat of alcohol? 1 point.
- Write entry? 1 point.
- Go to bed at a reasonable hour? 1 point.
For me, I seem to average about 7 points a day. More and it's a gold star day, less and I don't really give a fuck. At least I don't smell bad or look dirty. And I actually go to work, which is a stretch for a lot of people.
