The concept I came up with for my first project in Metals I was to make a hammered brass trivet with little tiny brass feet and a lovely pattern of cut out Celtic knotwork across the surface. After having spent a good ten or so hours working on my project, I feel very safe in saying that the ends result of all this labor looks less like a circlular piece of brass pierced with a delicate knotwork design, than an utter and complete piece of shit. I would go so far as to say the gigantic knot in my stomach looks more like Celtic knotwork than anything going on with my project.

Which leaves me with two conclusions:

One, I utterly suck at metalsmithing, and should not be allowed to handle any material of any value in conjunction with a piercing/cutting implement like a scroll saw or a drill press.

And two, I have a little less than a week for come up with, execute, and complete another kitchen-related project to turn in for critique.

Did I mention the knot in my stomach?
